CANCELLATION POLICY
WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU PURCHASE TRAVEL INSURANCE TO PROTECT YOUR ACTIVITY AGAINST UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES.
When you book a course or expedition with Andes Hikes, you agree to our cancellation policy. Please understand that if your trip does not go according to plan in any way and for any reason, we will not be able to provide any credits or refunds other than those described below. Our policy has been carefully crafted with respect for our clients, our administrative staff, and our guides, and we strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance to protect your investment. Most travel insurance companies have a time limit for purchase after you have booked your trip, so be sure to do your research.

If you choose not to purchase trip cancellation insurance, you acknowledge that you are self-insuring the cost of the trip and that Andes Hikes' payment policies will be honored.

1. THE CANCELLATION OF ANY TRIP IS WITHIN OUR DISCRETION. THERE ARE VARIOUS REASONS THAT MAY LEAD TO CANCELLATION, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO POLITICAL INSTABILITY, NATURAL DISASTERS, COVID-19, OR INSUFFICIENT ENROLLMENT:

In the event of a trip cancellation due to low enrollment, we will provide a full refund or credit for your payments.

If we cancel your trip prior to its commencement due to factors such as political instability, natural disasters, COVID-19, or any other reason unrelated to low enrollment, we will issue a credit for all expenses except non-recoverable costs. At Andes Hikes, we strive to minimize these "non-recoverable costs." Please note that as the departure date approaches, the non-refundable portion of your payment may increase since the majority of our expenses have already been incurred by that time.

For cancellations occurring after your trip has begun, whether due to political instability, natural disasters, COVID-19, or other reasons, no refunds or credits will be provided. In such rare but potential situations, having trip insurance becomes crucial.

Please be aware that any modifications to the trip itinerary made by our guides, including changes in the mountain to be climbed, the trekking route to be taken, or an unsuccessful summit attempt, do not qualify as trip cancellations. Therefore, no refunds or credits will be given in these cases.

2. IF YOU CHOOSE TO CANCEL YOUR TRIP:

Refund policies based on the timing of trip cancellation are as follows:

If you cancel your trip more than 90 days prior to the scheduled departure, Andes Hikes will provide a refund for your payment, deducting the non-refundable deposit.

Cancellations made between 60 and 89 days prior to the departure date will be eligible for a refund amounting to 50% of the total payment.

For cancellations made within 60 days of the departure date, no refunds or credits will be issued.

3. DURING ANY TRIP, OUR GUIDES MAINTAIN THE AUTHORITY TO EXCLUDE ANY INDIVIDUAL FROM PARTICIPATION FOR ANY GIVEN REASON:

These reasons typically arise when an individual poses a risk to their own safety or the safety of others within the team. This includes situations where a person lacks the physical capability to climb at the required level for the selected route. In such instances, no refunds or credits will be provided, and the client will be held responsible for any supplementary expenses associated with departing the trip.
