Embark on a thrilling 12-day adventure in Ecuador, where you'll have the opportunity to climb four of the country's most iconic volcanoes. This expedition will take you on a journey through some of Ecuador's most stunning natural landscapes, offering breathtaking views and unforgettable experiences.

This 12-day adventure in Ecuador involves climbing four of the most iconic volcanoes: Paso Ochoa, Rucu Pichincha, Cayambe, and Antisana. 

Day 1: 

Arrive in Quito (the Capital of Ecuador)

Leave your home for Ecuador, arriving in Quito (9,500 feet/2,896 meters) in the evening. Our team will pick you up and bring you to the hotel.

Day 2:

Explore Quito and Prepare for the first climb 

Quito is known for its beautiful churches, presidential palace, downtown, and amazing views.  After 12 pm, we will spend the afternoon preparing for our first climb, practicing techniques and organizing gear, accompanied by our guides.

Day 3:

First acclimatization climb - Paso Ochoa

After breakfast, we start our adventure from the hotel to 13,860 feet (4,225 meters) on Paso Ochoa. The trail is considered to be moderate in difficulty and will take approximately 6 - 7 hours, trust me the panoramic views from the top are amazing. This climb is very important to prepare the group for the next days and for your acclimatization.  

Elevation/Altitude: Highest: 4.220 m. / 13.845,14 ft. lowest: 3.361 m. / 11.026,9 ft.

Distance: 10 km (6.2 miles) 

Ascent: 870 m. / 2.854.33 ft.

Duration: 6 - 7 hours approx. 

Day 4:

Second acclimatization climb - Rucu Pichincha

After breakfast, we start the adventure by riding  the telepherique from the center of the city to 15,696 feet (4,784 meters) on Rucu Pinchincha. Two hours of hiking brings us to the rock ridge which we climb, conditions permitting, to Pinchincha’s 15,700 foot (4,785 meter) summit. This climb is a proud peak on its own; it is also important for our acclimatization.

Elevation/Altitude: Highest: 4.696 m / 15.406 ft lowest: 4.100 m / 13451.44 ft.

Distance: 10 km (6.2 miles) 

Ascent:  780 m - 2559 ft. 

Duration: 8 hours approx. 

Day 5:

Recovery day

This day is dedicated to rest and recharge, where we will practice yoga and enjoy the Papallacta hot springs. It is also a good time to explore the city and enjoy some free time.

Day 6:

Cayambe 

Travel from Quito to the Ruales Oleas Berge (15.420 ft) base camp of Cayambe. While staying at the refuge, you'll be treated to excellent food and stunning mountain views, as well as an opportunity for continued altitude preparation. Additionally, there will be opportunities to practice and discuss climbing skills, particularly those related to Cayambe's glacier. These skills will include techniques for using crampons and ice axes.

Day 7:

Summit day - Cayambe

The climb to the summit of Cayambe will take approximately 6-8 hours, depending on the pace of the group and the weather conditions. 

Elevation/Altitude: Highest: 5790 m / 18996.06 ft lowest: 4.600 m / 15.091.86 ft.

Distance: 7.9 km (4.9 miles) 

Ascent:  1200 m / 3.937 ft. 

Duration: 6-8 hours approx. 

Day 8:

Recovery day

This day is dedicated to rest and recharge, where we will practice yoga. It is also a good time to explore the city and enjoy some free time.

Day 9:

Travel to the Antisana Base Camp.

​Travel for 2 - 3 hours from Quito to the Antisana Ecological Reserve​, installation of base camp, skills review and safety talk during the afternoon.

Day 10:

Antisana Summit Day

The climb to the summit of Antisana will take approximately 6-8 hours, depending on the pace of the group and the weather conditions. 

Elevation/Altitude: Highest: 5753 m / 18874.67 ft lowest:  4.490 m / 14.730.97 ft.

Distance: 11 km (4.9 miles) 

Ascent:  1200 m / 3.937 ft. 

Duration: 6-8 hours approx. 

Day 11:

Weather day - return to Quito

Due to the unpredictable climatic conditions experienced in Ecuador's mountainous regions, we have included an additional day in our itinerary.

Back home :)
